Overview

The VideoBRIDGE Controller (VBC) is a LINUX based server application. The main purpose of the VBC is to offer central control and management of VideoBRIDGE probes such as the VB220 and VB280. Configuration management, stream status, statistics gathering, SNMP forwarding, automatic SLA reporting based on policy, equipment hierarchy and alarm logging are keywords. The user connects to the server by using a standard web browser as the client.

The VideoBRIDGE Controller (VBC) enables remote control and supervision of all VideoBRIDGE devices. The VBC controller software is deployed in a fully-fledged UNIX/Linux-based server environment offering powerful and standardized network access techniques such as SSH, TELNET, FTP, HTTP, SNMP, SYSLOG among others.

With total aggregation of all alarms and events detected by the VideoBRIDGE IP-Probes and an XLM based data gathering scheme, the VBC controller gives unprecedented insight into network health and the flow of media streams. Multiple views of data is featured, and both technical packet health and stream status is built into the VBC controller. Complete drill down from top level to the individual IP-Probe is an invaluable fault-finding tool. For the non-technical staff and for management, easy monitoring of Policy based SLA parameters is supported. An unlimited amount of channels can be monitored with the VBC controller

Complete parsing of log files and XML based export is built into VBC. A unique feature is an innovative PDF based reports generator for automated Policy based SLA reporting on a daily, weekly or monthly interval ending all uncertainties relating to media transport and service status. Multiple browser-based clients can connect to the server through HTTP. Full access control with individual user preferences and setup is included within the VBC. Only users with Administrator rights are allowed to define new equipment sites consisting of one or more VideoBRIDGE devices. The individual users are allowed to control already registered devices and to view gathered statistical data on a per site basis, giving fine granular control of data access.
